| Description: | AOAS will hold Astronomy Day @ Lake Fort Smith State Park on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the Lake Fort Smith State Park Visitors Center north of Mountainburg, AR. This event will start inside the Visitors Center with displays, exhibits and presentations on a myriad of objects and subjects beginning at 12:00 noon. GREAT for the entire family, and as always FREE and OPEN to the general public. The presentations and displays will be closing in the afternoon at 4:00pm, but members of AOAS will then move to the Marina at 7:00pm for an evening of public viewing of our wonderful universe, staying until 10:00pm. Numerous telescope types and sizes will keep everyone interested with different objects in every instrument, featuring planets Venus and Jupiter, star clusters of two types, Open and Globular, nebulae from dying stars and nebulae where new stars are forming, plus a selection of brighter galaxies from our inter-galactic neighborhood. Join members of AOAS as we all ask our visitors to "Please come, take a look through my telescope." |
