I'm a bit new to astronomy. My kids bought me a Meade 4.5" reflector a few years ago and I just never got around to really putting forth the effort to learn and use it. Well now I am reading, learning, and looking at the sky. The first thing I notice is that I think I need a bigger aperture. I'm guessing 8-inch. I like the price on the 8-inch Dobsonians but I want to photograph what I see. Photography is one of my other hobbies. So what do you reccommend? I like the Equatorial mounts. I even wonder if I could buy an Orion 10-inch tube and attach it to my Meade EQ-D mount. Any comments?

I plan to attend the Star Party tomorrow night. Hope to get a look at some different scopes.
