Hi guys. This time was the turn for M17, The swan or omega nebula. Hope you like it.
Very nice. I like it a lot! You captured the filamentary structure in this nebula very well. What combination of H-α, O-III, and/or other filters did you use for this?
Thanks Dave!
The palette for this one is the usual H-α for Luminance and Red; H-α and O-III for green; and O-III for blue.
I took a total of 15 subs for each filter of 15 min each.
I'm planning on taking the S-II subs tonight. We'll see how it goes.
Here is my very first try using the "Hubble's palette" SII-Hα-OIII for RGB.
Hope you like it.
I like it a LOT! The addition of the S-II frames makes a world of difference. They add not only color, but a great deal of depth to the image. Now I feel like I'm looking at a picture window into the deep sky.
That is really good work.
Mike H.
Thanks Dave, Thanks Mike!
I thought there was too much H-α vs SII or OIII, so the picture looked all green! I found later that you have to correct the colors after mixing and balancing the channels. So the Hubble palette happens to be false over false color.
