Hello. Started receiving enough parts to connect the Sony A300 DSLR to the TV127is refractor. This might not look like much but to me it is great. I took a single 60 second image under bad conditions of the m42 area. It is reduced from 3800 pix wide to 1000 to show the FOV. I see good things in the future as the need comes up for this setup.


Also on the 10th a full Wolf Moon was coming up so I switched the A300 to a 100/300 zoom on a tripod. So many things can be done.

Those are BOTH nice photos! I personally believe my foray into astro-imaging will probably be through a DSLR. The CCD cameras that are worth anything are far more expensive and although they may provide superior results, seem to me to be something for intermediate and advanced astro-imagers, and not for the beginner. We've got several members in the club who are doing their own imaging now, and I think it's a great trend.

Just curious if you used a filter on the moon shot. I took some moon pictures too and the moonlight on the surrounding clouds created a nice effect but the brightness of the moon washed out the moon detail. I didn't have much time to set up a tripod so I just snapped them in the auto mode with the flash turned off.

Hello. Thought I would share this update. Took 5x2 minute exposues last night of the same area. It shows problems with chip adjustmen on the right side and noise. Needs more information to solve having to push too much but I really like the DSLR shots. These were unguided.

This looks a bit blue but I didn't color adjust. The camera is strong on the blue side and wearkr on the red.

I added 32 minutes of information to the last image making a total of 42 minutes. The faint detail is starting to show and fill in the once empty sky. Once again I didn't adjust the color rather let the camera decide. This information also increases the existing problems whick will need to be worked on in the future.
