Well, I hit again at the Casino Laughing Out Loud ......... Thank God for the indians..............

I ordered a slightly used Celestron C102 with a 2" quartz diagnal and a 32mm eyepiece.......I think it will be a great "Grab 'n Go" scope, digital telephoto lens and mayhap, a superfinder for my SCT, if the added weight doesn't overwhelm my CG5 mount.

Smile Got the scope.............great set-up......Found M31 @25x......

A normal Barlow will not work with this scope. It will not focus.

Does anybody know if a "Shorty" barlow will work with the Celestron C102???

Try putting the Barlow BEFORE the diagonal, Leonard. That's the only way I could get my old GPC102ED to accept the Barlow. Unless they've made the setup entirely different, it should work like that.

It makes no difference where I put it in the optical path. needs to focus in - past the closest focus....next star party I will see if anyone has a short barlow I can try.....

Celestron makes their Ultima barlow, which is a short design. It's a 1.25" barlow, which I'm sure would work for you. You may want to try that. Orion Telescope & Binocular also makes a shorty barlow that would work.
