Hello Everyone!

The AOAS Christmas Dinner Meeting was filled with delicious foods, wonderful visits with astronomers, and exciting 2009 club events. One of the things we discussed was to get those great recipes that all enjoyed so much.

If you don't mind, please share your recipes by sending them to this post. Dave and I really LOVED all those foods and we are already looking forward to next year's Christmas Dinner Meeting! Hope to see you at many of the fun and educational 2009 AOAS Star Parties!

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and lots of dark sky viewing in the New Year!

*OK, Kenny, you were so right when you told me at the Christmas Dinner Meeting that when someone has an idea, you get delegated to do that idea! This is one example! Ha!!!!!!!!!!! Eek!

Lora,
Being delegated to anything with food is a plus though. Especially food as good as what was present at the Christmas party.

The recipe for my WM no-bake cookies is as follows.

Leave house.
Turn onto Hwy 10.
Turn onto Hwy 71
Turn onto 540
Turn onto Rogers Ave
Turn into Walmart parking lot.
Enter the store and locate the bakery.
Pick up 2 boxes of no-bake cookies and proceed to check-out counter.
Pay and exit store reverse of the entry process.
Drive from store to park at the river for Astronomy club meeting.

I will provide the recipe for our home-made cookies.

You may find it difficult to obtain some of the "top secret" recipes.

Kenny

Lora,
This may not be as simple as Kenny's no-bake cookies, but it may be a bit tastier. This is my recipe for the Sweet Potato Casserole that I have been bringing to the AOAS Christmas dinners:

Put one 40 ounce can of (drained) sweet potatoes in microwave safe bowl. Briefly heat in microwave on high setting for approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Add one stick of butter and mash the potatoes, which produces 3 cups of mashed sweet potatoes. After mashing potatoes and butter, add and mix in the following: one cup of granulated white sugar; one teaspoon of vanilla; two eggs beaten. Pour into 9" x 13" baking dish and cover with the topping.

Topping: one cup of brown sugar; 1/2 cup of flour; 1/3 cup of melted butter; one cup of chopped pecans.

Bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Broccoli Casserole:

1 large bag of frozen, cut broccoli
1 bag of Pepperidge Farm Herb Stuffing
1/2 stick butter
1 large box of Velveeta Cheese

Prepare broccoli as directions state. When tender, drain and put back in pan. Cut up cheese into chunks and melt into broccoli on low heat. Stir often. When cheese is melted into the broccoli, put into a large plastic or glass dish.

Melt butter in a medium sauce pan. Pour 1/2 bag of stuffing into melted butter. Stir and spread evenly on top of broccoli. Cover with a lid and place into microwave on high setting for 7 minutes or until cheese bubbles on the side of the dish.

Hope you enjoy this!
