It was requested by Jesse Bocksnick, the County Extension Agent with the Sebastian County Cooperative Extension Service, to conduct a Star Party at the Sherriff's Youth Ranch on next Tuesday, June 30th, 2009. This is for about 40 kids and concellors attending a 4-H Summer Camp. Laughing Out Loud

We tried to have one last year, but was rained out. Rolling Eyes

Here are the directions to get to the location:

Lat: 35°33'43.40"N; Long: 94° 7'29.00"W

The directions are:

From I-540 turn north onto 71 at the Alma or Rudy exits. Travel on 71 until you reach West Graphic Road on the right, just past the old "Cat Fish Hole Resturant". Look for Sheriffs Youth Ranch sign. Take West Graphic Rd. until you reach a sharp right corner (next to the convenience store) where road then becomes South Graphic Drive. Travel South Gaphic until you reach Old Graphic Road on your left. Turn onto Old Graphic Rd and go about 1.4 miles. The entrance to the Sheriff's Youth Ranch is on the right. Follow the road around, past the Horse Stables, to the Gymnasium on the right, where the star party will be held.

It can also be reached by traveling north from I-40 at the Mulberry Exit, north on County Hiway 63. This hiway is also named
Old Graphic Road. Follow this road approx. 4 miles to the entrance of the Sherriff's Youth Ranch, on the left.

If anyone wishes to come out and help out, it would be greatly appreciated.

I will be there to set up at around 8:00pm.

Leonard,
Can you provide specific directions to the telescop site? I'll probably arrive early since I'm a slow "setterupper".

The star party went VERY WELL. Laughing Out Loud

Mike and I set up our scopes near the gym. There were about 30 kids from 9 to 18 years old and about 10 adults.

We showed them the Moon, Saturn, and few DSOs. M13 was really nice. Rolling Eyes
