All -

I know this is short notice, but we have a request from the Girl Scouts to put on a Star Party for their group on Friday, October 16th. The event is to be held at the Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center that evening from dusk to 9:00 or 10:00 PM. This is in addition to the Astronomy Day event we already have scheduled for the 24th, but will only be for the evening. No daytime activities are planned. I have already coordinated this with the Nature Center, so they will be expecting us. Ms Linda Archer, who is the Program Director for the Girl Scouts has indicated that they will be expecting 30 - 100 in attendance.

This event is the same weekend as the Red River Astronomy Club Burgerburn down in Nashville, AR, which Lora and I (and I believe Leonard) are planning to attend. As such, Leonard, Lora, and I cannot be there. So, we really need you to volunteer for this event if you don't already have something planned. If you intend to volunteer, please RSVP as I need to know if we'll be able to cover this by the beginning of the week.

It would be best if we could see at least 3 scopes out on the field that night, More is better. If you don't have a scope, volunteer anyway. We will need people to help coordinate that large a group.

Please let me know if you can help with this event. I know it's short notice, but if we don't have at least three people volunteer, I will have to tell Ms. Archer we cannot support them. I'd hate to have to do that.
Eek!

I'll be there, Dave. I hope a good number of other members will be there, too.

Sounds great, Bob.

By the way, I was wrong about the Burgerburn, which will be held the weekend BEFORE this event, so I'll probably be able to make it to this one as well.

Still, for other members, we need your help. So please volunteer.
