Here's a first run on the Trifid. I didn't have the chance to take the SII channel so I combined Ha and OIII to generate the green channel. I hope you like it.

Interesting. Do I detect a bit of tracking error that increases to the lower left of the image? Or is that just my old eyes again? I like the details in the nebula itself. I see the edges of the Lagoon Nebula apparent in the lower right as well. Nice..

I like your photo - better detail than the one offered in the current Astro Images section of AstroPhotoInsight by Adam Block.

You are right Dave, but the star trailing was due to flexure. The mount was guiding better than ever, at least according to the PHD graph. It happens that when pointing to the Trifid the tubes holders are in a lot of stress. The stars drift happened exactly in that direction, so now I'm considering on switching to a side by side mounting rig. But, boy are they expensive. The ideal side by side setup, as offered by ADM, goes almost as expensive as the mount itself!

Ah!

I can certainly understand the budget constraints. Big Grin I'm still working toward getting a mount to use for astroimaging myself. Eek!

Just the same, it's great image.
