What a turn-out! AOAS members with our telescopes descended on Carol Ann Cross Park this evening and hosted at least 100 people from the general public with views of Saturn and her magnificent rings, mighty Jupiter and his four accompanying Galilean moons, the cratered face of our First Quarter moon, and a few select "deep-sky" objects such as the great Globular Cluster M-13 in Hercules, with an estimated 500,000 individual stars!!!
All told, 13 AOAS members, handling 8 telescopes of from 13" to 5" in diameter, spent a total of some 30 man-hours showing many of our visitors their first-ever views of the night sky through a telescope. It was simply one of the best nights we've ever had since beginning our "Stars in the Parks" public nights at CAC Park in 2004.
We'll do it again on July 1st! Join us for one heck-of-a great night under the stars!

I also showed some people Mars, it appeared tiny and insignificant compared to the other planets.
