AOAS.ORG AutoTag Usage
AutoTags Overview
AOAS.ORG supports AutoTags. These are tags that can be embedded in an article, story, forum post, or signature that are processed when the article / story is displayed. Autotags can be used to give simple integration of visual components to your stories, forum posts, and signature line, as well as references to other stories and forum posts.
Most AutoTags are immediately followed by either a
StoryID,
ForumID,
LinkID,
MediaID, or
AlbumID. Some AutoTags support additional parameters to help you control the look and feel of the resulting integration. Some, on the other hand, do not have any additional parameters
AutoTags also honor Gallery album permission settings. If a user does not have the permission to view an album, any AutoTags referencing that album or its contents will not be displayed to that user.
The AOAS Gallery also supports a couple of special features when it comes to AutoTags. By default, the AOAS Gallery will alternate the alignment of the thumbnails from left to right throughout your articles. If you prefer to specify a right, left or no alignment, you can use the
align: parameter to force the alignment to your preference.
Note: Where the discussion about a particular AutoTag below mentions usage in a story, remember that the AutoTag will also function in a forum post or signature line in the same manner.
There are some special issues with signature lines that you need to be aware of, however.

This example will place the album cover thumbnail in the story using a height/width of approximately 200x200 pixels. AOAS Gallery will preserve the aspect ratio of the image, so the size may not be exactly 200x200 but it will not be any larger than 200x200. The alignment of the thumbnail will be automatically alternated between right and left depending on the other AutoTags in the story, it will have a small border around it and will be hotlinked to the album view. The caption will display below the thumbnail.

slideshow:
The
slideshow: AutoTag will embed a JavaScript based slide show in your story or forum post.
There are a few restrictions with the JavaScript slideshow; images are not centered, so if you have both landscape and portrait images to
display, the portrait images will align to the left. To assist you in having full control over this AutoTag, in the Manage Media screen for each album, you have the option to select which image items will be included in the slideshow. This gives you the ability to select images with similar size and orientation, which makes for a much prettier slideshow.

Signature AutoTags
Signature AutoTags exist for a very special reason. When you add a signature to your Account Profile (under the About You tab,) all of the text in the signature will display on a single line, unless you use the following tags. In addition, HTML is not allowed in signatures for security reasons, so these tags provide some flexibility that would otherwise be unavailable.
Note: With signatures, you can use the
media: tag to add a thumbnail image ot your signature line(s). Be sure that the
media: AutoTag is the
last item in your signature.
siglnbrk:
The
siglnbrk: AutoTag will add a line break to the text in your signature. You can use this as many times as necessary to format the text in your signature.
Example:
This is my signature line.[siglnbrk:]This is my second signature line.[siglnbrk][siglnbrk]I have nothing left to say.
Result:
This is my signature line.
This is my second signature line.
I have nothing left to say.
siglink:
The
siglink: AutoTag is used to add a URL to the text in your signature. Similar to the Basic AutoTags, the
siglink: AutoTag takes two parameters. In this case, the URL (do not include the "http://" portion of the URL,) and the test you wish to display. Unlike the Basic Autotags, however, the
siglink: AutoTag adds a line break to the text so that the link displays on a separate line.
Example:
[siglink:www.aoas.org Arkansas-Oklahoma Astronomical Society]
Result:
Arkansas-Oklahoma Astronomical Society
