Bio: My friends and I started an astronomy club when I was 11 years old. None of us had any money, so we just stared at the sky from the back yard of my parent's home in Montana (great dark skies...) We collected articles and books on astronomy, and read them & discussed them at our meetings (always FORMALLY called, as 11 year-olds will do.) I was also in Boy Scouts at that age, and spent a great deal of time camping in the wilds of Montana - ever the explorer. Now, my wife and family love to SCUBA dive, ride horses, camp, and look at the stars. Life is full of wonder - and being involved with an organization like AOAS is what keeps it fresh and alive. Astronomy is exploration. Exploration feeds the soul. Ask the hard questions. You'll be the richer for it.
